Republican Activist of 27 Years & Former OKGOP Vice-Chair Endorses Brogdon

On April 11th, Oklahoma Republicans will elect, or re-elect, the State Chair of the Oklahoma Republican Party. This is a critical election about the future of our party in Oklahoma. I’ve been involved in the Oklahoma Republican Party for more than 27 years, serving as my Precinct Chair for most of those years, serving as Chair of the Oklahoma County Republicans when George W. was elected, and then as Vice Chair of the State Party during those trying times when John McCain was our nominee. And I’ve held almost every office possible within the party, either being appointed or elected to serve my fellow Republicans.

For most of those years, I looked forward to conventions where we renewed our acquaintances and friendships with other Oklahoma Republicans while meeting so many new friends. I loved attending the festivities and conventions!!!! Yes, we had disagreements or tense proceedings as people worked to find the common ground for Republicans. But we always left with one goal in mind… limited government, protecting the freedoms of Americans and Oklahomans, and securing the future for the next generation. We all returned to our county party organizations and got back to work alongside other Oklahomans of all ages and economic status to elect candidates, register voters, and raise money to help candidates.

Things have changed drastically in the last few years. We are now the majority party of registered voters in Oklahoma. We are no longer a struggling party focused on electing majorities at the State Capitol. But we also have a party leadership that is more intent on dividing the activists and labeling them instead of welcoming the young, the old, or the activists wanting to return to work in the party. There are rumors, sometimes nasty rumors, meant to destroy the character of a leader, or potential leader, that is spread to cause distrust and division. This is unhealthy for our party and the future of our state. And the results are that we now have a party in constant turmoil... and I believe, primarily as the result of leaders who refuse to read (or follow) all of the state party rules. Strife is rampant!

I want a party that restores trust and willing to work with others to build a great organization. When we have that type of leadership, Republicans will increase the number of people who are working together for the sake of our state and nation.

I believe that the only candidate for Chair of the Oklahoma Republican party who can, and will, bring that unifying effort is Randy Brogdon.

I’ve known Randy since he was first elected to the State Senate and know him to be a man of his word who is willing to work with all sides to find common ground for the good of us all. Randy has the heart for service! Just as important, I believe Randy will follow the State Party rules to help restore trust across our party. He will lead the effort to help counties organize and grow their base of activists.

It’s time for real leadership that ALL of us can trust! That is why I wholeheartedly endorse Randy Brogdon to be our next State Chair for the Oklahoma Republican Party. I encourage all delegates who will be attending the State Convention on April 11th to join me in voting for Randy Brogdon. The next generation of Republicans, and those of us who are still around, will be blessed by his leadership.
